July 1 - Question 3

What special considerations do Crisis Management Teams have to consider? How do you address these issues? (hint: considerations in the chamber but not how to address them... use your noggin!)

The special considerations a CMT should consider would be a need for a virtual team and the coordination with external agencies.

A CMT would address these issues sharing information over internet and telephone with no face to face communications and the CMT may need to coordinate their efforts with firefighters, police, emergency medical teams or the Red Cross.

I looked through the Chamber and did not see the special considerations. But I would say a special consideration during a crisis would be for patients or staff who are deaf or speak a different language.

Having someone on staff know sign language would help. Knowing how to use TTY is also important.

Hiring people who are educated in more than one language is a preventative measure to avoid language barriers during a crisis. If that is not possible, have interpreters' numbers.
